The Big Story 📰

Fable Investments, the corporate venture arm of Brazilian cosmetics firm Natura & Co., has invested in British fragrance brand Perfumer H for a second time. Most recently, Natura & Co. was in the news for selling one of their portfolio brands, Aesop, to L’Oreal for an impressive $2.5B.

Founded in 2015 by classically trained perfumer Lyn Harris, Perfumer H is known for creating quirky fragrances with natural ingredients while keeping sustainability top of mind. One of their recent scents, WOOD LAND, for example, is an olfactory imagining of what a woodland oasis would smell like in Central Tokyo. Another scent, SALT, captures the windswept herbs of the Brittany Coast on a bright day.

Beyond their use of natural ingredients and sustainable practices to craft unconventional fragrances, Perfumer H stands out via its minimalist branding, hand-blown glass vessels, and stunning retail experiences. One of their scents, TOBACCO, is a perfect distillation of their elegant but minimalist packaging.

Perfumer H currently operates three retail stores — two in London and one in Paris — and will use the funding from Fable Investments to open stores in Taiwan and Hong Kong later this year.

This isn’t Lyn Harris’ first rodeo. She previously co-founded another fragrance brand, Miller Harris, and sold a stake in it to NEO Investment Partners in 2012.

Fable Investments, which has backed sexual wellness brand Maude, science-backed skincare brand Stratia, and others, first invested in Perfumer H toward the end of 2021.
