Mergers & Acquisitions

  • Sazerac Company is acquiring RTD cocktail brand Dirty Shirley for an undisclosed sum. Best known for their spiked shirley temples and irreverent market, Dirty Shirley hit an inflection point in 2024 when sales surged 934% YoY. While most spirits companies have been quiet on the M&A front, Sazerac has acquired several assets like SVEDKA Vodka, BuzzBallz, and Western Son. PR Newswire

  • Unilever and McCormick are engaged in discussions regarding a potential strategic transaction. If a deal were to proceed, Unilever would carve out its food division and merge it with McCormick. The combined company would be worth tens of billions and home to brands like Hellmann’s, Knorr, Cholula, Frank’s Red Hot, and French’s. The transaction would enable Unilever to focus on its more lucrative beauty, personal care, and wellness brands. WSJ

  • Valeo Foods Group, an Irish food manufacturer with nearly €2B of revenue, has acquired 100% of Prestige-96, a leading manufacturer of sweet baked goods in Bulgaria. Prestige-96 is Valeo Food Group’s eighth acquisition since 2022. Business Wire

Turn Email Into Your Most Profitable Channel 📩

If your brand is relying on paid media while your email program is built on vibes…you’re leaking profit every month and here’s why:

  • 50% of consumers made a purchase directly from an email last year, more than from social ads

  • $36 to $68 back for every $1 spent on email, no other channel is close

  • Automated flows drove 37% of all email revenue in 2024

  • A 5% lift in retention can increase profits by 25–95%. That's a P&L number, not a marketing metric

Here's how our system at Cousins works:

🎯 Customer Lifecycle Systems: 6-8+ automated flows with 30-60 emails that turn one-time buyers into repeat customers while you sleep.

👀 Engaging Campaigns (not just discounts): 3-4 weekly premium curated campaigns focused on product education, community, social proof, and current events all segmented for the highest LTV and impact.

📈 We’re Retention-Only Specialists: Our Head of Retention was an early growth hire at The Hustle and our founders have been in the trenches for over 10 years. We don't bolt retention onto media buying, retention is what we do.

Want a no-BS retention audit? If there’s upside, we’ll show you exactly where. If not, we’ll tell you that too. Cousins is offering 5 CPG Wire readers a free audit over the next week. Book your audit here.
