Diageo Looks To Sell Three Brands šø
Spirits giant Diageo has hired Rothschild to find a buyer for three brands: Pimmās, Pampero Rum, and Safari Liqueur. Pimmās, the iconic gin liqueur brand that was first produced in London in 1823, is likely to fetch the highest price, closely followed by Pampero Rum. If anyone buys Safari Liqueur, itās because they have to buy all three brands.
Though Diageo is known for making aggressive acquisitions ā they shelled out $1B for Casamigos one year after the tequila brand surpassed 120,000 cases ā they often fine-tune their portfolio and sell brands that are no longer of strategic importance.
Diageoās recent divestitures include Archer Schnapps, Guinness Cameroon, TYKU Sake, Windsor Global, and Picon. Their recent acquisitions, on the other hand, include 21 Seeds Tequila, Balcones Distilling, Don Papa Rum, and Mr Black Coffee Liqueur.
If their acquisition history is any indication, Diageo is looking to sell the above-mentioned brands in order to focus on larger opportunities like tequila, super-premium rum, and, of course, American whiskey.
