The Caker, a popular cake kit company that was founded by Jordan Rondel, is under new ownership. Rondel sold the cake kit business along with the brand name. Details about the buyer are scarce but The Caker will remain active in Australia & New Zealand. RNZ
Falfurrias Management Partners, a middle-market private equity firm, acquired a stake in Snak King, a leading manufacturer of private label and branded snacks. Snak King owns a handful of brands like El Sabroso, The Whole Earth, and Granny Goose. Food Business News
Fundraising
Brother’s Bond Bourbon secured nearly $5M in equity funding from undisclosed investors. Actors Ian Somerhalder and Paul Wesley launched the whiskey brand in 2021. By 2023, Brother’s Bond Bourdon had shipped over 100,000 cases across the U.S. SEC
Cardenxe Sotol, a New York-based small-batch sotol brand, raised $500K in equity funding from undisclosed investors. Cardenxe currently offers three SKUs: Sotol de Pradera, Sotol de Sierra, and Sotol de Desierto. SEC
